Born in beautiful Cambridge, Massachusetts, Lauren Barrett lived in the Boston area until she was six years old and was whisked away to a magical enchanted forest called Manomet Village. There she made all of her little friends play princesses and pirates and Robin Hood, and she was the hero in all of the stories and always got the boy at the end.
Lauren studied English Literature and East Asian Studies at Simmons College and escaped to Japan for a year, before settling back in Boston to teach young children.
She is an active member of Grub Street and the Society of Children’s Writers and Illustrators. Every other Sunday she cries on the shoulders of her very supportive writing critique group.
